Calling All Section Leaders
It is that time of year again....your old white band shoes are shuffling themselves in the closet, like an old war horse, ready to charge to Austin. You have a strange, and unfamiliar urge to actually get your horn out of the case, and you realize when you are walking in the mall that you are walking in step to the music...Yes, Band Day is coming!
If you haven’t already, go to the LHAB homepage and look at the video of previous shows. You can find other shows from the past on YouTube. As I was co-teaching the show last year, I was amazed that our group comes back for a weekend, learns a halftime show, and performs it so well. I wish all of you could see it from the ladder as the band forms, the show takes shape, and then snaps into being. That is a tribute to each of you for your dedication and abilities. However, these shows don’t happen by magic; all of that work would be for nothing without the help of the volunteers who come forward to be section leaders each year.
What we do is unique. For us to teach a show and get it ready to perform in a couple hours can only be done because of our section leaders. It is a lot of work, but it is also a great opportunity to help the LHAB. So, once again, I am asking for volunteers. I know we can count on our veteran members again, but I’d like to make a special appeal to our newer members to step up and help. We want you to get involved. If you could teach a show in LHB, you can do it here, too.
If you are interested in volunteering as a Section Leader during Band Day, you can email me directly at siharmon@aol.com or sign-up as a Section Leader on the Registration form. Thanks to each of you for volunteering again, and we’ll see you at Band Day!
