From the President
Dear LHAB,
I hope youre enjoying your summer and getting ready for another great LHAB reunion! Since LHAB was started in 1964, the 2003 edition will mark the 40th appearance of The Longhorn Alumni Band. This years show will commemorate the 100th birthday of The Eyes of Texas and once again celebrate Texas tradition. We hope you can make it back to be a part of the another exciting performance!
Included in this issue of The Blast are all of the registration forms and information you need to plan your LHAB weekend. There is also information on the annual golf tournament now held by the Longhorn Band Student Association that will be on Sunday morning following the game. There are some changes to the structure of membership dues, Band Day registration and fees this year so make sure you look over your registration form carefully and double-check that everything is correct. Of course, you can also view all of this information and register on-line at
http://www.lhab.org.The game time is not yet known but we have been assured that it will be a night game. Included in this issue is the probable schedule for a typical 6:00 PM kickoff. This schedule may not represent the exact final schedule, but it should not differ by much if the night game is correct and it provides a fairly accurate idea of what you should plan for. Once the game time is known for certain, a final schedule will be posted on the LHAB web site and notifications will be e-mailed. It is unlikely we will know in enough time to send them through regular mail.
Your LHAB officers are working hard to make the Band Day another success and we can always use your help. If youre interested in being an officer, assisting with rehearsal by being a section leader or helping out with Band Day preparations, please drop us a line and indicate so on your registration form as your contribution and time is greatly appreciated!
All of the upcoming important and deadlines are included in the newsletter so make sure you review them and get all of your materials in on time. If you have any questions regarding you registration, please submit a comment through the LHAB web site or e-mail us at banday@lhab.net.
While there are always some differences every year, the basics of what we do never change. There is no other organization that can pull off what we do with our large numbers and limited time. It is a tribute to our membership but most of all, the incredible band we were all once a part of! Get ready for an outstanding Band Day and BTHOOT!
Hook'em!
