CALL TO ORDER at 6:30pm by President Susan LaRonde at Hastings Communications. ALSO ATTENDING: Allan Adelman, President Elect; David Carter, Past President; Jenny Griffin, Scott Hendrix, Bill Kaigler, and Elizabeth Muenzler, Vice Presidents; George Moxley, Austin Area Rep; John Fleming and David Jones observed. MINUTES from the November ’99 were proposed by Allan/Jenny second, to be accepted as written. Motion carried. ________ TREASURER’S REPORT: Current balance is $17,593.30 in checking. Savings has $5,046. Invoice from Austex Printing for $4,248.75 was read into the minutes INSTRUMENTS: One piccolo is still missing, per Allan. Repair on the sousaphone was $1,373.50. THANK YOU GIFTS (tiles) for David Carter and Gay Dodson are still in progress, per Susan. TOWER BAND: 15-16 came out and gave a good show, per George. BAND DAY 2K: Susan will e-mail Kevin Sedatole, shooting for the OSU game, with Missouri as a second choice. SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE: Allan will round up three other "willing victims" and go to work ASAP. SPIRIT ITEMS ON-LINE: Jenny will get with Bill Kaigler on this soon. New items include khaki ball caps and golf balls with the LHAB logo, key chains and perhaps metal licence plate frames. Still in the works: mouse pads and note blocks with the LHAB logo on all four sides. T-shirts will be reordered. Speaking of "tees", Scott Hendrix brought in the New Men’s T-shirt, with a photo of the first LHB on it. Officer consensus was positive for using this on future LHAB shirts. ARCHIVES: Scott Hendrix has Hervey Lazenby, Moton and Mr. DiNino interested in the archives committee. New displays should be going up in time for fall. No report on getting new name plates for the cabinets. LHB 100 TELEVISION SHOW: Scott has the master tape from the show ran by KVUE-TV 24, for those interested. ADOPT A SCHOOL: LHAB received a certificate of appreciation from Carl Wydane (ph) Elementary, per Elizabeth. They need "recorders" for 150 of the 5th and 6th graders. Allan motioned/George second to donate $300 for this. Motion carried. They also need school supplies. Elizabeth will run articles in the spring and summer BLASTs and have donation bins at BAND DAY 2K. The music teachers asked if LHAB members could come show instruments to the kids. Jenny said she would call KKY/TBS members to help. DUNAGIN HOUSE: Susan said H.B. Dunagin’s widow left their west Austin home (behind Travel Quest on W. 6th) to Donna Beth McCormick, who wants to donate it to LHAB as a permanent home. It appraises at $400K, but is in need of repair. The BOT is willing to loan $$ for renovation. Use options include a storage facility for LHAB and a residence hall for LHB members. Scott proposed forming a Dunagin House subcommittee to research uses, renovation options, tax advantages and historical landmark status. Susan will work with the BOT on this. DALLAS AREA REP Ken Capps contacted LHAB because he did not get his LHB CD. Susan bought one and sent it to him. She requested reimbursement of $25, including postage. Scott proposed/Elizabeth second, to send him a video of the 100th Anniv. Show. Motion carried. TREASURER VACANCY: Kent Kostka is leaving soon. Susan will send out e-mail request for an Austin-area replacement. THE NEXT BLAST will be out in March. Articles are due NLT last week of February. FLAGS AND SILKS: Some interest in organizing the silk section. POCs are O.D. Wilson and Delia Tovar. Suggest they meet the Thursday before BD2K to teach the halftime show.
